Our expectations of all participants at the conference

This EACR conference will bring together around 240 participants from across the world to share their research, learn, discuss and form new partnerships and collaborations. We are committed to providing a safe and secure environment at the conference with an atmosphere of mutual tolerance and respect. Below are the expectations we have for all participants at the conference, including paid participants, speakers, exhibitors and staff.

Please note that if we believe that any participant’s behaviour is detrimental to the safety, security or wellbeing of others, we may request them to change their behaviour or in extreme circumstances we may require them to leave the conference venue.

Electronic devices

Please switch devices to silent mode when in scientific lectures to avoid disturbance for the speaker and other participants.

Personal and professional conduct

We expect all participants to communicate professionally and constructively, handling dissent and disagreement with courtesy, dignity, and an open mind, being respectful when providing feedback, and being open to alternate points of view.

On a personal as well as professional level we expect participants to treat each other with courtesy and respect. We do not allow intimidating, threatening or harassing behaviour of any kind from anyone.


Children are not permitted in any scientific session

Safety and security

For security purposes please wear your meeting badge at all times when in the meeting venue. Please do not leave personal items unattended.

Media policy


  • Flash photography is not permitted during the scientific sessions.
  • Speakers may request that no photographs are taken during their presentation, particularly in the case of unpublished data.

Social Media

  • Speakers may label slides that contain sensitive data with “DO NOT POST”, and poster presenters may label their posters with “DO NOT POST”. Images or data from these designated slides or posters may not be posted on social media under any circumstances.
  • A social media blackout will be in place during the Conference Debate, to encourage healthy and uninhibited discussion of a challenging topic.
  • Otherwise, the use of social media throughout the meeting is encouraged. The conference hashtag is #GFB18.

Photography and video

Please note that we will be taking photographs and video at the conference for publicity and marketing purposes. If you wish not to take part please inform the photographer.
