The EACR is Europe's largest membership organisation for cancer researchers, with more than 10,000 members, in over 100 countries worldwide. Members range from first-year postgraduate students to winners of the Nobel Prize! If you actively work in, study or support any aspect of cancer research, you can join the EACR community.

Eligibility Criteria for Each Membership Type

Who can join as a Student member?

You’re completing your PhD, MSc or equivalent postgraduate qualification and your focus is on cancer or cancer-related biomedical science research. You may be a graduate student, medical student, resident, or clinical fellow, who is enrolled in an educational or training program leading to a career in cancer research.

Who can join as an Early Career member?

You work actively in cancer research, for example in academia, in industry or as a medical doctor. If you have a related degree, you graduated less than four years ago. If you don’t have a related degree, you have been working in this area for less than four years.

Who can join as a Member?

You work actively in cancer research, for example in academia, in industry or as a medical doctor and have done so for more than four years. 

Who can join as a member via an Affiliated National Society?

You’re a member of one of the 14 National Societies affiliated to the EACR. Click here to find out more

If you actively work in, support or study any aspect of cancer research, you can join the EACR community. If you are not sure please contact us via our contact page.

Our worldwide membership of more than 10,000 people includes:

  • MSc students and PhD students
  • Postdoctoral researchers
  • Department heads and Directors of research institutes
  • Scientists, Researchers and Investigators working in academia or in industry
  • Medical Doctors and Oncologists
  • Research technicians
  • Nurses
  • Pharmacists
  • Bioinformaticians, Statisticians and Data Specialists
  • Other healthcare professionals or educators who are interested in and/or make a substantial contribution to the cancer field

Inclusive Membership

We may be able to offer reduced membership rates to researchers from countries with low income or lower middle-income economies, as defined by the World Bank. These rates are not applied automatically, they are only available on request and are assessed on a case-by-case basis. We may also be able to offer reduced fees to researchers with extenuating circumstances. Please contact our Memberships Officer, Andrew Binns, for further details.
