Introduction

Tissue stem cells are undifferentiated cells holding the regenerative potential of the organ. They are responsible for maintenance of homeostasis and recovery upon injuries, but they are also at the origin of the malignant tumorigenic potential leading to cancer.

This virtual conference will present leading experts sharing the more recent advancement in tissue stem cells biology and the link to cancer heterogenicity and plasticity. Exploiting a variety of experimental model systems, speakers will present a holistic view of molecular programs of cellular plasticity (cell-intrinsic and microenvironmental) driving both healthy stem cell functions as well as cancer growth. Increased knowledge on the abnormal stemness behaviour holds the potential for therapeutic interventions against cancer.

Target audience

This conference will be relevant for lab-based and clinical researchers, as well as those working in industry. The target audience ranges from students to established PIs who have a keen interest in stem cell field and cancer cell plasticity. We particularly encourage discussions from young scientists in the field.
