Berlin, Germany : 9 - 12 September 2018
Goodbye Flat Biology brings together researchers who are interested in the techniques and applications of 3D culture at the cancer biology, engineering and drug development interface. The meeting has a reputation for outstanding science, international participation, and excellent opportunities for interaction and networking. Registration places are limited, so don’t miss out!
Cancer progression and resistance to therapy in patients are complex processes, involving distinct cancer cell phenotypes and diverse immune and fibroblastic regulators and extracellular co-conspirators. These interactions are themselves affected by the molecular and mechanical properties of the tumour's microenvironment.
The structure, dynamics and molecular reprogramming of a tumour have proven difficult to model in conventional 2D cell culture. The limitations on the biology that can be modelled in 2D culture constrains the processes that can be studied and the targets that can be identified.
Efforts to bridge this gap have led to a renaissance in the development of 3D culture models, with distinct approaches arising from techniques in cell biology, developmental biology, and engineering.
Faculty, postdocs, and trainees interested in techniques and applications of 3D culture at the intersection of cancer biology, engineering, and drug development.
Industry scientists interested in identifying promising platforms for drug discovery and targets for novel therapies.
