The ”la Caixa” Foundation launches the ninth edition of the Call for biomedical and health research projects. The aim of this call is to identify and support promising initiatives of scientific excellence with potential value and social impact, whether in basic, clinical or translational research.
Proposals may be submitted in the following thematic areas:
Proposals will have a duration of up to 3 years and may be submitted as:
Individual projects: submitted by a single research organization (Host Organization, HO), requesting up to €500,000.
Research consortium projects: submitted by at least 2 and no more than 5 research organizations and coordinated by the HO. Research consortium projects may request up to €1,000,000.
Eligibility
Projects submitted may be led by researchers from non-profit research organizations based in Spain or Portugal.
The PI must be linked, either by statute, work contract or other type of collaboration, within
the framework of this Project, to the Host Organisation when applying for the grant. The PI must also be the project leader who submits the proposal and coordinates overall execution of the project.
The PI must have a minimum of seven years of experience in postdoctoral research. Therefore, they must have completed their doctoral degree (PhD) at least seven years before the closing date of the Call (taking as a reference the date shown on the doctoral degree).
All team members should form part of the host organization (HO), the civil society organizations (CSO) or the research consortia.
Funding
The grant will cover costs related to the Project provided they are adequately justified,
technically adapted to the needs of the Project and always in accordance with the policies of the Organisation. The budget submitted in the proposal may include expenses in the following categories:
a) Direct costs:
» Personnel
» Travel
» Equipment
» Consumables
» Publications
» Dissemination and social engagement activities
» Other direct costs
b) Indirect costs (overheads): a maximum of 10% per Organisation of the direct costs of the
grant budget: Indirect costs max = 0.1 x Direct Costs
c) Subcontracting:
» Subcontracting audits
» Others subcontracting
