EACR-funded EMBO Workshop on Writing Papers and Giving Presentations - Communicating your research with accuracy and impact

We’re pleased to offer 20 fully-funded places to eligible EACR members at this one-day online training workshop facilitated by EMBO, a trusted leader in scientific publishing, communication and leadership training.  

Participants will explore the structure and content of a manuscript, how to assemble effective figures, and write impactful titles and abstracts. The second part of the workshop focuses on presenting research effectively in various short formats, such as poster presentations, flash talks, or elevator pitches. 

Only one person per lab will be awarded a place, but we strongly encourage participants to share the workshop learning and materials with their colleagues, to maximise its wide-reaching benefits. 

Eligibility 

You must be an EACR member, and you must be either a PhD student or a postdoctoral researcher. 

The workshop will be delivered virtually via Zoom. Each participant will need their own:  

• Desktop or laptop computer  
• Web camera  
• Microphone  
• Headphones (if possible)  
• Quiet place from which to attend the course  
• Reliable internet connection with at least 5 Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload speeds  

Participants must attend the course in full.

• After logging in, come back to this page and click here to access the application portal. Only EACR members will be able to access the portal. If you can't access the portal but you believe you are eligible, please contact our membership team.  
• Complete each section of the online form. Application deadline: 23:59 CEST on 27 July 2026. 

You can expect to hear the result of evaluation by 18 August 2026.

Evaluation

All applications will be evaluated fully. The Evaluation Committee will review applications and select participants based on the statement of motivation and diversity. Only one person per lab will be awarded a place, but we strongly encourage participants to share the workshop learning and materials with their colleagues, to maximise its wide-reaching benefits.
