These Postdoctoral Fellowships are awarded for a period of up to three years and support excellent postdoctoral researchers in laboratories throughout Europe.
EACR-Boehringer Ingelheim Postdoctoral Fellowships
The goals of the programme are:
- to support the career development of outstanding EACR early career members.
- to train the next generation of scientists engaged in innovative research in areas where Boehringer Ingelheim has demonstrated leadership through its pipeline and research programs.
- to build research collaborations between the EACR, institutions and Boehringer Ingelheim in core therapeutic areas to support development of the pipeline.
Proposed research projects must:
- be basic and/or translational in nature
Projects should focus on one of the following research areas:
- Mechanisms of resistance to cancer cell targeted therapy
- Targeted therapy
- Antibody drug conjugates
- Inducing cancer cell death, including immunogenic cell death
- Senescence and immunosenescence
- Mutated tumour growth drivers
- Oncogenic transcription factors
- Models of cancer cell: immune cell interfaces
- Functional genomics
- Targeted protein degradation
Measures of success:
- High impact publications describing innovative additions to the field
- Short and long-term satisfaction with the programme
- Career development of Fellows
- Continued academic interactions with the fellow and / or academic supervisors and Boehringer Ingelheim
How to apply
The deadline has now passed to submit outline proposals for an EACR-Boehringer Ingelheim Postdoctoral Fellowship. A full timeline of the review process can be found on page 4 of the Programme Guidelines below.
Applications are accepted in line with the published timeline in the Programme Guidelines (PDF).

- Check you meet the eligibility criteria on the right side of this page, also available in the programme guidelines.
- You must hold a valid EACR Membership Number and be logged in to access the portal
- It is your responsibility to ensure that all supporting documents are submitted.
- Take note not to exceed the character or word count limits. Applications cannot be submitted as ‘complete’ with exceeded limits.
- Information will save automatically and may be updated at any time prior to submitting an outline application. Please DO NOT press submit until you have fully completed the application. You will only be able to submit one application.
- After submission you will be taken to an acknowledgement page.
- Only applications that are submitted as complete by the published deadline can be considered. There will be no extensions and no exceptions for late or incomplete applications.
