Dr. Saal graduated from Columbia University, New York, with MD and PhD degrees, and has performed cancer research at the National Human Genome Research Institute, NIH, and the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.  He is co-founder and CEO of SAGA Diagnostics, a cancer genomics company providing products and services to pharma, academia, and healthcare that enable ultrasensitive quantification of tumor DNA in cancer liquid biopsies and tissues (http://sagadiagnostics.com). He is also Associate Professor, Division of Oncology and Pathology, Lund University, and Heads the Translational Oncogenomics Unit, a research group focusing on application of genomic technologies to understand tumorigenesis and the development new clinical tools. Dr. Saal has published more than 60 articles in leading journals such as Nature Genetics, Science, and PNAS, which have been cited more than 9700 times.

Abstract

SAGA Diagnostics is a personalized cancer genomics and disease monitoring company. We have innovative tissue and liquid biopsy analysis technologies that are 100 times more sensitive in detecting mutations and monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) compared to current methods. Our technologies help biopharma, investigators, and hospital systems to identify actionable variants at an earlier stage, measure treatment response, and empower better therapeutic decisions. In this presentation, we introduce our technologies SAGAsafe®, SAGAsign® and SAGAseq® which have the potential to improve translational research, clinical trials, and ultimately improve the quality of life of cancer patients and patient outcomes.
