Job and Study Opportunities

Postdoctoral and Lab Scientist Positions, Glioblastoma, Cancer Stem Cells and Vascular Biology, Institut Curie, Paris-Orsay, France

Postdoctoral position

The institute and lab:

The Institut Curie Research Center (https://institut-curie.org/profil/researchers) is a world-class multidisciplinary organization created in 1909 by Nobel Laureate Marie Curie bringing together France’s largest center in cancer research and a model hospital group dedicated entirely to the care of cancer patients. The institute is ranked in the top 1% by International Science Index. The scientists of Institut Curie laboratories have access to state-of-art core facilities (https://institut-curie.org/page/platforms).

The Tumor Microenvironment Lab mainly works on resistance mechanisms in glioblastoma. Glioblastoma is the most deadly type of human cancer. Recurrence is supposedly mostly caused by the regrowth of highly invasive cells spreading from the tumor bulk, which are not removed by resection. To develop therapeutic approaches, we need to better understand the underlying molecular mechanism of radioresistance and tumor spreading in glioblastoma.

The PI of the lab is Dr. Giorgio Seano, fresh off a 5-year postdoc experience in Harvard Medical School. After publishing the results from his postdoc (Cancer Cell, 2018 and Nature Biomed Eng, 2019), he opened a new laboratory in Institut Curie in Jan 2018.

Profile and main duties:

Outstanding Postdocs and Lab Scientists with interest and experience in brain tumors, radiobiology, vascular biology and/or cancer stem cells. This ERC-funded project will give you the opportunity to extensively use in vivo experimental models and learn/develop intravital microscopy. These studies will be supplemented with in vitro and ex vivo models. Team player mentality, independence and problem-solving skills are expected.

Job offer:

There are several unique features of this job opportunity:

  1. Working with an enthusiastic Junior Group Leader an already-setup laboratory in the outstanding environment of Institut Curie and covered by a long-term European grant.
  2. Institut Curie offers access to state-oft-the-art infrastructure and a competitive salary.
  3. The lab has the goal of publishing good and comprehensive papers in high impact journals.
  4. Basic science approaches to address clinically relevant issues in collaboration with clinicians.
  5. There is depth appreciation of academic, clinics and industry.
  6. An international-friendly English-speaking laboratory.

Cover letter, CV and references contacts may be directed to Dr. Giorgio Seano, giorgio.seano@curie.fr.
