A Post-doc position is available at the Dep. of Oncology, University of Turin in Northern Italy (see for more details: https://lnkd.in/dSMJ-8xY), in an international and collaborative working environment with strong ties with IFOM in Milan (https://lnkd.in/dxtxm9zn). It is a full-time position within a MFAG-AIRC project (PI: Dr Mariangela Russo, PhD), fully funded for a duration of two years with the possibility of extension.
We are a dynamic and multidisciplinary group where molecular biologists and computational scientists collaborate daily, each with their own expertise, to fulfill our common scientific aims. We have many documented national and international collaborations and we are looking for a highly motivated researcher with a good training in molecular and cellular biology, eager to shed light on the mechanisms of tumor evolution and adaptation to anti-cancer therapy.
Our research aims at providing a comprehensive characterization of drug-tolerant cancer persister cells and their role in tumor evolution during clinical tretament, with the final aim to overcome acquired resistance to targeted therapies in colorectal cancer and identify novel therapeutic strategies. To achieve these goals, we will combine trascriptional, pharmacological and CRISPR-based genetic screenings.
Applicants would likely have:
- a PhD in genetics, biology, pharmacology or in a related field of the life sciences.
- Skills in cell culturing, biochemistry, molecular biology.
- Previous experience in cytofluorimentry, immunofluorescence, microscopy and/or animal manipulation is a plus.
- Prior experience in the field of DNA repair is preferable.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment.
- Ability to organise workload, communicate ideas and results.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills,
- Fluency in English.
