PhD students and Postdoc scientists to study autophagy in cancer, Università “A. Avogadro”, Novara, Italy

The following positions are open in the Laboratory of CIRO ISIDORO (Professor of Pathology, Dept. Medical Sciences, Università “A. Avogadro”, Novara, Italy. E-mail: isidoro@med.unipmn.it)  for the period 2008 (starting in September-October)-2011: 3 PhD students plus 3 Postdoc positions. Ideal candidates: 1. should have a solid background in cell biology, biochemistry and molecular biology; 2. should be enthusiastic and be able to work in group in a stimulating and exciting environment. Selection starts in July.

We study the mechanisms of antineoplastic drug toxicity and the molecular basis of chemoresistance in cancer cells with a focus on the involvement and regulation of the autophagy-lysosomal proteolytic pathway and its relationship with the apoptotic pathway. We are also setting a section of nanobiotechnology for the production and validation of NIR-dye- and drug-loaded nanoparticles for diagnostic and therapeutic applications.
