Molecular PATHOLOGY approach to cancer: Amsterdam 7th - 9th March 2011

1st EACR-OECI Joint Training Course "Molecular PATHOLOGY approach to cancer" Amsterdam 7th - 9th March 2011

De Rode Hoed, Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Introduction

The course is aimed at training pathologists, residents in pathology, molecular biologists with interest in diagnostic pathology, and young medical oncologists, in the practical application of molecular tests in pathology.

The developments in molecular testing in pathology, especially in the area of oncology, are rapidly leading to the application of molecular tests in day to day clinical care of patients. It is crucial that those working in pathology laboratories receive training in an up to date molecular approach to cancer diagnostics.

The course will therefore focus on relevant molecular tests as well as providing the background to the developments that are leading to the novel diagnostic tests of the future.

The topics that will be covered in the course include:

  • Translocations and other genetic alterations in the diagnosis of lymphoma/leukaemia
  • Translocations and other genetic alterations in the diagnosis of soft tissue tumours
  • MGMT and others in brain tumours
  • B-raf and C-kit in melanoma
  • HER-2  status in breast and gastric cancer
  • Whole genome sequence analysis
  • Ki-ras testing in colorectal cancer
  • EGFR mutation testing in lung cancer

We are pleased to inform you that the 1st EACR-OECI Joint Training Course "Molecular PATHOLOGY approach to cancer" has been awarded 13 CME credits by the Accreditation Council of Oncology in Europe (ACOE).

We hope that you will be able to join us and contribute to this innovative course,
