Change in Council Composition - January 2011

The Council Remit:

Council members build the relationship between their membership constituency and EACR; provide advice to the EACR Executive Committee; contribute to EACR communications; and look for opportunities for partnership working.

Where a ‘National Society’ does not exist in their country, the Council member seeks to develop a national network of EACR members with support provided through the Secretariat.

Change in Council Composition – January 2011

The President, or Presidents’ nominee, of BACR (Belgium) and DSCF (Denmark) gain seats on the EACR Council as new National Society Representatives. Prior to BACR and DSCF joining EACR as Society Members an open and a National Network representative seat were held by Belgium and Denmark respectively.

Two new countries now qualify for ‘National Network’ representative seats on the EACR Council. An election will be held in the coming weeks to determine representatives for Norway and Portugal.

Two ‘Open Seats’ are now available to eligible members following the changes in Council detailed above.

Elected Representatives:

‘National Network’ representatives

Seats on the Council become available for ‘National Network’ representatives when the individuals membership in any country reaches the qualifying level at the census point.

Two countries qualify for seats on the Council and are:

Norway and Portugal
The term of office for a ‘National Network’ representative is four years. However if membership falls below the qualifying level the representative will be required to stand down.

‘Open Seats’

Two seats are now open for nomination and election across the Individual Members of EACR who are not working in a country that will be represented by a ‘National Society’ or ‘National Network’ representative. It is seen as desirable that nominees should be based in a country with an EACR membership that is growing strongly, are interested in developing a National Network and willing to liaise across a European Region.

Members interested in learning more about the election process or seeking nomination should click here for further information.

Call for nominations

Nominations are invited for seats on the EACR Council

‘National Network Seats’

Seats on the Council become available for ‘National Network’ representatives when membership in any country exceeds 2% of the current Individual Membership of EACR.

Two countries qualify for seats on the Council and are:

Norway and Portugal

Members from the above countries are asked to consider seeking nomination to the EACR Council.

The Russian Federation seat will not be retained on the Council as the membership level no longer meets the qualifying criteria of 2% of current membership level. [By-laws]

‘Open Seats’
